Since 2008, Joel has done thermal solar jobs for me. He is top notch. He is the ‘go to guy’ for solar thermal troubleshooting and repairs in Northern Virginia and the DC area. I had a ten panel array with glass panels used to heat an indoor pool all year long. On one job, I needed a new roof. Joel dismantled the entire array, then came back and reinstalled it when the new roof was finished. I was very pleased with the new work.

I recently used American Solar to install a new solar swimming pool system I had a solar system on the roof for twenty years so I knew how well they worked. Joel and his Team came in and did an outstanding job. I thought I knew pool solar until I met Joel. He has a wealth of experience in solar and excellent workmanship. The time he took explaining the products and reason for selection plus answering any questions couldn’t have been better. The difference between the prior panel installation and American Solar is day and night. Through Joel’s expertise I am using less panels but have much higher temperature output from the new solar system.

American Solar (Joel) installed a complete solar swimming pool system in June 2015. It was a complete success. His workmanship was excellent. Our pool water is warm and powered by the sun.!! Thanks Joel

Joel and Forrest are amazing!! I had an immediate issue with an older Solar Water Heater System that was not performing 100%. Even after a full day of work in D.C. Joel and Forrest were able to come out and inspect and fix the problems. I usually get estimates on work, and then compare before I go with just anyone to work on my equipment. Joel’s Father previously worked on our system, so I knew I was in good hands either way. Joel’s prices were comparable if not better then any of these plumbing companies, that say they repair Solar Systems….. They were courteous, informative, and I wish they did other work so they could work on any future house issues I may have down the road.

American Solar has serviced both of our solar systems for over 20 years. They installed our hot water system in 1991 and our solar pool heating system in 1996, and have kept both in tip top shape ever since. One snowy icy Sunday in January they even came to our home when we had no hot water (which turned out to be the electric water heater, not the solar, but the solar panels were covered with snow so they couldn’t make any hot water for us.) They took care of us right away. I don’t any other company that would come out on a cold snowy Sunday to help a customer, but they did. Professional, Ethical, and very reasonably priced, they are a gem of a company.

We’ve used Joel, the Solar Doctor, for many years now. We had a 30 year old water heating system, consisting of a solar tank and a natural gas tank. We needed to replace both. Excellent job done. He was honest and sincere. He answered all my questions, to my satisfaction. His price was good. He was professional, organized, very knowledgeable and experienced, courteous, patient, friendly and open. He cleaned up the work site well, both during and after the job was finished. He was very responsive to phone calls and texts, before, during and after the job. I am very satisfied with him. I feel that I can trust him to do a great job, at a fair price. I would hire him again!
